Our Pilot Series beers are about exploring and developing our craft. They started when we were trying to choose what to brew next but couldn’t settle on the best style. Instead of flipping a coin, we came up with the idea to ‘pilot’ different ideas to help us to decide what to feature in our growing beer line-up. They can be classics, experimental brews, or feature different ingredients we want to test out. Now that we’re having a heap of fun brewing different styles, we see no reason to stop.
The western coast of North America is home to some of the boldest hop varieties on the planet, and the beers that made them famous. For this Pilot Series release, we’ve brewed an India Pale Ale. It features Centennial, Chinook and Citra to celebrate the citrus, pine and tropical notes these heavy-hitting hops are known for. Crystal and red malts offer a little malty sweetness to support this aggressively hopped nectar, but we’re not pretending that this one is a delicately balanced beer.
