After a cold stormy winter, the sun’s been out these last few days and it’s starting to warm up. Winter coats have been stowed and sunglasses have taken their place by the front door. It’s the best time of year for a good pint outside so here’s a few of our favourite beer venues for summer.

Rooftop Bar
Level 7, 252 Swanston St, Melbourne

The rooftop above Cookie and The Toff is home to Melbourne most popular open air bar, surrounded by the city’s skyscrapers. A rotating beer list and great burgers make this a perfect venue for a lazy afternoon in the sun or twilight partying with friends. They even run cinema screenings at night during the warmer months, featuring new releases and old classics alike, although bookings for these nights are essential.

Madame Brussels
Level 3, 59-63 Bourke St, Melbourne

A rooftop venue for the high society. White picket fences, pink walls, the crew in tennis whites and the outside terrace reminiscent of a country club. Punches in pitchers, Craft beer, rosé and cupcakes a plenty – leaving no palates thirsty. Named after the dame herself, Madame Brussels was the operator of some high end brothels in Melbourne in the early 1900’s. With a remarkable view of Melbourne’s cityscape, this watering hole is much like Madame Brussels’ unconventional lifestyle.

Palace Hotel
505 City Rd, South Melbourne

This leafy beer garden is a favourite amongst the South Melbourne locals. No frills but in their words, “Just the real stuff that makes a great local”. Their beer range caters for most drinkers and they cook up great pub fare to boot. Friendly dogs are more than welcome and it’s a great place to share a meal or drink with your two-legged friends as well.
